Agar-agar is a food thickener in the form of powder or chips, white or sometimes yellowish. Agar-agar is made from certain types of algae of red and brown color, which are extracted from the seabed or artificially grown on special plantations.
This is a great substitute for gelatin, since it is required 3-4 times less than regular packaged gelatin. Agar-agar solidifies faster even at room temperature, does not melt at high temperatures and gives a more dense structure.
